Middlesbrough Cycle Circuit

Was invited to the opening of Middlesbrough's new purpose built cycle circuit yesterday. I was very impressed. It was a great turn out, representatives from various organisations, cycle clubs a local school etc. All bringing their bikes along as well.
The opening commenced with speeches from The Mayor & British Cycling before the ribbon was cut and everyone was able to cycle round the track for the first time.
I don't think I quite new what to expect having never road on a closed circuit before. I think it is going to be an ideal opportunity for people ( myself included) to training all year round, especially in the winter. It is also a great opportunity to entice more people into the sport of cycling aiming sessions at all abilities and experience adults and children alike. I myself am looking forward to signing up to take part in the Go Race series starting in April. This is for people who have never experienced circuit racing before and enables them to ride with like minded competitors wanting to try racing for the first time! Can't wait.
I enjoyed flying round the track a few times whilst there and can definitely see myself getting back through there ASAP.

My point of view video whilst cycling 1 lap round the circuit. Don't let the heavy breathing put you off. I had just finished a few flying laps!

I really think the circuit is going to be fantastic for the area. Let's just hope it doesn't get vandalised and ruined by youths!

I must also mention that if it wasn't for the legend that is @BenAuty I wouldn't of made it to the opening. Whilst cleaning my bike on Monday night I noticed that one of my tyres had failed. It was too late to find a bike shop open so Ben stepped in to save the day and offered up his new ZX's for me to lend.

These tyres are fantastic and look great! I am not looking forward to giving them back.
